Austin----------------Wednesday April 2013

Wednesday we hung around most of the morning.. just chillin and then headed out.  We went straight to the Capitol

to try and catch up with Kaitlin.. we caught just between lunch and another meeting!

and this one is SPECIAL because it shows Dave going through the CHL line.. this is a big deal for Dave. :0)

After we watched her for a few minutes.. they split into committees and left to go lobby.. we left too!  We headed out to find substance!  My hearts desire was to find the FOOD TRUCKS... (Vickie.. I found them and now I KNOW where to go!!!)  Yeah!

After we had our fill.. we headed to the RED BUD Water Plant-- Education Center.  We are ALL about the water lately!

LOOK at all these pictures of ME!!!

And here we are at Zilker Park... they had a SPLASH  Interactive Exhibit about.. YES, water!!!

The entire day was (minus lunch of course and a stop at a 7-11 for drinks)  was FREE.  :0)  We zipped in and out of the Capitol so no parking.. Red Bud and the SPLASH exhibit were both free and we just paid for lunch!!!   WHOO HOO!!!

Austin--------------- Sunday through Tuesday---- April 2013

We had some time for sightseeing!  You know I made time anyway!

We got to Austin on Sunday so that evening we went to 6th street.. oh the sights you see!  We ate at a restaurant that Sarah had been to before.. called the IRON CACTUS.  YUM.  Kaitlin and I shared chicken stuffed with corn bread and a jalapeno dressing.. wow.. it was so good!

After dinner we walked around a little....

we also drove by capitol and got a few pictures!

I cannot believe I forgot my camera... I had to use my IPHONE all week!  I was so upset!  BUT i did the best I could!

Monday... was mostly spent getting Kaitlin settled, up at the Capitol and working at dinner time at the camp!

On Tuesday we went to San Marcus and rode the Glass Bottom Boats at Aquarena Springs...

it was a great tour.. Because we had visited the Houston waterworks.. we knew about aquifers and were able to ask VERY intelligent questions!  The tour guide was very patient!!

I loved seeing down into the spring and it DID not make me dizzy like an aquarium.

WE also visited their Wetland Walk... it was so beautiful and peaceful!

This building, build right at the head of the river was originally a hotel in 1929, but it basically closed as soon as it opened because of the depression... it was turned into a boys home during the depression and a hospital during World War II.  Eventually it was turned back into a hotel and now  houses the offices and a small museum. .... as it is on the property that is protected.  It is part of the Texas State University grounds.

We also made a night time run to KRISPY KREMES!  We checked to make sure they were serving hot and ready before we went!  They were so yum! Ours all closed in Houston and the last time we had one was in Florida, two years ago.

Sunday Sum Up: Week 24 2013-2014

{139-143}

Monday...

It was supposed to be such a productive day... BUT, Dave ended up staying home sick.  I have a horrible migraine and Emily was about as unfocused as she could possibly be.. it lent for a VERY NON PRODUCTIVE DAY!

However.. stuff did get done so that is good.. I suppose!

But the girls have been working on this little diddy... sister sweetness!

I LOVE the sweet face at 44 seconds.  :0)

Tuesday..

NO school.  We drove up to Magnolia to have lunch with family we haven't seen for decades!  It was a very nice time.. we found out our cousin (I am not sure what second, removed etc. she is!) is planning to home school.. so right there were on common ground!  They are also very much "ahem" politically minded as we are.. so that was nice!

The kids did however get home and managed to get some work done!

This is Emily working on her cloud unit...

Wednesday...

We had a field trip to the Houston Water Works Education Center... Emily is doing a water/ cloud unit and it fit right in.. We had a great time and learned a lot!

Thursday...

We worked VERY hard in the morning to get a little bit of  school done and then we had FIELD day with our support group!  It had been rainy the day before so we held much of it inside.. but it was great!

after all there relays everyone got a Popsicle!

Friday...

Got bare bones done today.. but honestly my mind is JUST not on school work today.  I have a lot to get done for next week.. So I am taking some of our school stuff to Austin and the printer and I plan to knock out some lessons plans while I am sitting in a hotel room for hours and hours!

After we get back from Teen Pact.. we are going to BUCKLE down and I will prove it on my next Sunday Sum up!!!!  I promise.  I really am not promising Y'ALL so much as I am myself!
