What to do.. what to do...


Sweet huh.

I need pictures like this sometimes to remind me that she is sweet.  I need pictures like this to remind me that I am responsible for raising her to be Godly with or without ADHD.  Here is my special little online test... DO you think Emily has ADHD?  I mean IF you know her in person and can correct any of my scores please let me know...  she is showing a lot more lack of impulse control in the last 4 to 6 months. 

I understand that it is OVER DIAGNOSED but really, could this possible be?  

Defining ADD/ADHD


Medically, ADHD is a specific development disorder which begins in early childhood (by first or second grade) and is marked by distinct daily impairments in: resisting distraction (distractibility), inhibiting responses (impulse control), and regulating motoric activity (hyperactivity). In general, ADHD is a disorder of impaired self control, and neurological research has distinctly shown ADHD to be associated with abnormalities in areas of the brain which control and regulate behavior.







Six or more symptoms in each category must be present with a score of 3 or more.


0 = Never 1 = Rarely 2 = Occasionally 3 = Frequently 4 = Very Frequently







Inattention (low attention span)

Six or more of the following symptoms of inattention have persisted for at least 6 months to a degree that is maladaptive and inconsistent with developmental level:
3   Often fails to give close attention to details or makes careless mistakes in schoolwork or other activities.
3   Often has difficulty sustaining attention in tasks or play activities.
4   Often does not seem to listen when spoken to directly
3   Often does not follow through on instruction and fails to finish schoolwork, chores or duties in the workplace (not due to oppositional behavior or failure to understand instructions.)
3   Often has difficulty organizing tasks and activities.
2   Often avoids, dislikes or is reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained mental effort (such as schoolwork or homework.)\
2   Often loses things necessary for tasks or activities (e.g., toys school assignments, pencils, books, or tools.)
3   Is often easily distracted by extraneous stimuli.
3   Is often forgetful in daily activities.



Hyperactivity-Impulsiveness

Six or more of the following symptoms of hyperactivity-impulsivity have persisted for at least 6 months to a degree that is maladaptive and inconsistent with developmental level:

3   Often fidgets with hands or feet or squirms in seat.
4   Often leaves seat in classroom or in other situation in which remaining seated is expected
3 to 4   Often runs about or climbs excessively in situations in which it is inappropriate (in adolescents or adults may be limited to subjective feelings of restlessness.)
2 to 3   Often has difficulty playing or engaging in leisure activities quietly.
3   Is often "on the go" or often acts as if "driven by a motor."
2   Often talks excessively.
2   Often blurts out answers before questions have been completed.
3   Often has difficulty awaiting turn.
2 to 3   Often interrupts or intrudes on others (e.g., at school or work and at home.)



What to do?  What to do????  I guess it is time to start researching, reading, praying, thinking, talking, doing... SOMETHING but the status quo is not working for me.

BUT I love my girl!

I don't have time to read through all this right now but I will say that ADHD has never even crossed my mind where Em is concerned.
