Our House Rules/ Behavior contracts...

So did any of you watch Jurassic Park 1?  Do you know the part about the Velociraptor--- the are so brilliant that they just stayed ahead of the learning curve all the time.  The watched and learned and you would have to change things up all the time to keep them contained... (velox being Latin for swift)

Well so my children are like the Velociraptor.

They are getting more manipulative and conniving  brilliant by the day!  We have to keep changing things up to stay ahead of them!  So hence the new "behavior" chart/ system!

We had the kids sign these Behavior Contracts this morning at breakfast before the start of our school day.

Our House Rules (taken from Trivium Academy)

1. Be Kind
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

2. Obey the first time.
Ephesians 6:1-3
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2"Honor your father and mother"—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

3. Be Happy, Speak only of good things.
Psalms 34:1-3
1 I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
2 My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
3 Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.

4. Never lie. Always tell the truth.
Proverbs 12:22
The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful.

5. Treat others how you want to be treated.
Matthew 7:12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

6. Do not whine or complain.
Phil 2:14
Do everything without complaining or arguing

7. The first answer is the
answer; do not nag.

Ephesians 6:1-3 (see above)

8. Show respect to adults.
(May I? Please, Thank you)

1 Timothy 3:4
He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect.

9. Share.
2 Corinthians 9:11
You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

Deuteronomy 15:11
There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.

10. Always do your best.
2 Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.

Here are the tickets they earn.  You tear off the stub and place it in the treasure box for the weekly prize drawing!!!  I got mine at the teacher supply store- they are 3.99 for 100.

The this treasure chest is from here but I got it at Party City maybe?

So for the two days we have implemented the new system, it is working great!

I wonder long till they outsmart need something new to work with?
