Although a feminist-- she did not live the normal life, marriage, family etc... and the fact that she believed women held great power-- she believed motherhood was the greatest of these "powers".

Her images of women holding the keys to procreation are her greatest contribution, however. Whether they care tenderly for their children or pass on wisdom, they are essential to humankind's survival, as Cassatt so effectively illustrates in this show."
